INAUGURAL LECTURE WITH HECTOR VIGLIECCA

This year, for the first time, the Inaugural Lecture is organized in conjunction with the Graduate and Undergraduate Programs in Architecutre at PUC-Rio alongside the Academic Center for Architecture at PUC -Rio.

Héctor Vigliecca is the Architect and Urbanist invited!

Architect and urban planner born in 1940 in Montevideo, Uruguay. Graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Universidad La Republica, under strong influence of the theoretical debate promoted by Team X. He received his degree in Urban Planning at the University degli Studi di Roma .

In Brazil since 1974, he worked in the CNEC and with Joaquim Guedes, in São Paulo. He is a founding partner, with architect Luciene Quel, of the office Vigliecca & Associates, which currently has bases in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Salvador .

His extensive production, centered on the relationship between architecture and city, ranges from social housing, sports arenas, cultural, educational and institutional buildings to large urban interventions, with an emphasis on participation in public architecture competitions, national and international .

Major awards: APCA (São Paulo Association of Art Critics) category "Urbanity", "Distinction Award" in two International Biennale of Architecture in São Paulo (1993 and 2003), and nomination for the " Mies van der Rohe" Award for Latin American Architecture (1998).

He was a professor at the University of La República, Mackenzie UNIP, São Paulo.

Currently developing several projects in Rio de Janeiro, such as Morar Carioca and the Deodoro Olympic Park .

The lecture will take place on Macr 28th (Friday) at 18:00 in the auditorium RDC .
