SER URBANO 2015

The student-organized symposium, SER URBANO 2015 (URBAN BEING), will take place on 24, 27, 28, 29 and 30 October with the theme "Architecture and Participation".

On 24/10 (Saturday) SER URBANO begins with the realization of a guided tour by His Luis (resident and one of the local leaders) to the community of Vila Autódromo, located in Barra da Tijuca near the future Olympic Park.

Residents of Vila Autódromo is strongly resisting the government's removal of pressures of "Olympic City". The Olympic Park project provides a large parking space and support for the games in the region where the community is located. Urban and civic needs of the residents and their neighborhood were disregarded in project implementation and future Olympic legacy project, which provides for that location a new residential district medium-high class along the lines of the neighboring condos of Barra da Tijuca.

The right to the city is all but how to claim the same when the very institutions that should defend and strengthen it, are the first to deny it at the expense of many to benefit a few?
