Bachelor of History from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (2007) and in Psychology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2018). Holds a master’s degree (2010) and a Ph.D. (2015) in History of Sciences from the Casa de Oswaldo Cruz/Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (COC/FIOCRUZ). Between December 2013 and January 2015, was a CAPES/DAAD scholarship holder in Germany, conducting a sandwich Ph.D. at the Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin). In 2016, received an Honorable Mention in the CAPES Thesis Award 2016, in the History field, for the thesis: “À Luz do Biológico: psiquiatria, neurologia e eugenia nas relações Brasil-Alemanha (1900-1942).” In 2019, was the winner of the V ABEU Prize 2019, in the Social Sciences category, with the book “Clínica, Laboratório e Eugenia: uma história transnacional das relações Brasil-Alemanha.” Currently a professor at the Department of History of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), where teaches courses in History of Cities, History of the Contemporary World, and History of Republican Brazil. Conducts research in History of Sciences and Contemporary History from a transnational and global perspective. Has a keen interest in the history of migrations, psychiatry, neurology, eugenics, as well as the history of German-Latin American relations in the 20th century. Between October 2019 and October 2021, conducted research in Germany on the exchange of the German Hygiene Museum in Dresden with Latin America, as a visiting scholar at the Institute of Latin American Studies at the University of Berlin.
