Vera Hazan

Vera Hazan graduated in Architecture and Urbanism from the Santa Úrsula University (1988) and in Social Communication from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (1990), with a specialization in Urban Planning and Land Use from IPPUR/UFRJ (1994). She earned a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from IPPUR/UFRJ (2000) and a Ph.D. in Urbanism from PROURB/FAU/UFRJ (2009).

A former councilor of IAB RJ for several terms, she worked for many years in the areas of communication and exhibitions. She was involved in organizing the Brazilian Architects Congress in Rio in 2003 and also in MIRA, the International Rio Architecture Exhibition. She also served as a councilor for CAU RJ.

At DAU, she was a professor of Collective Space Design and Supervisor of EMAU (Model Office of Architecture and Urbanism). Many students guided by her won the Architect of Tomorrow award, and she herself won several awards with the Model Office.
