On Saturday, September 28, the project “AR LIVRE ARTE LIVRE” will take place at the Carmen Miranda Museum, designed by Affonso Eduardo Reidy in Flamengo.

Now in its second edition, the project is curated by Amanda Abi Khlail (Temporary Art Platform) and Traplev.

The panel “Desaterro: High Tide in Flamengo” features Professor Ana Luiza Nobre (DAU/PUC-Rio), geographer Jorge Barbosa, and biologist and environmental educator Brenda Vitória. The goal is to introduce a critical note in the ongoing celebration of the Flamengo Landfill-Park through discussions of storytelling and urban history in relation to environmental racism, climate rights, and urban rights, focusing on the Maré complex.

Brenda Vitória is a resident of a favela, a biologist, and an environmental educator. She works on environmental and social initiatives with an intersectional approach to race and gender. She is a member of the working group for the Climate Rights Charter of Maré.
Jorge Barbosa is a faculty member at the Federal University of Fluminense, a Visiting Professor in the Graduate Program in Geography at UERJ, the founder of the Observatory of Favelas, and a Scientist of Our State – FAPERJ. He is a co-author of “As águas encantadas da Baía de Guanabara” (Numa, 2021), among other publications.
