MEDIA-CITY: CONTEMPORARY ART AS A THOUGHT ON THE URBAN DIMENSION
Panel: October 8, 2019 – October 8, 2019
The DAU invites everyone to the eighth meeting of the event MEDIA-CITY: CONTEMPORARY ART AS A THOUGHT ON THE URBAN DIMENSION, organized by Michel Masson and promoted by PPGArq/PUC-Rio.
The guest artist is MARIO RAMIRO, a member of the group 3NÓS3, a pioneer of urban intervention in Brazil. Amid a period marked by worker strikes and struggles for the country’s re-democratization, the emergence of graffiti, punk rock, mimeographed poetry, and xerox art, the collective initiated a series of actions in the city of São Paulo. The conversation will focus on the interventions – or “interversions” – of 3NÓS3, which sought to “alter the usual order of things.”
Mario Ramiro (Taubaté, 1957) holds a degree in visual arts from USP, a master’s in art and media from the Academy of Media Arts Cologne in Germany, and a Ph.D. in visual arts from USP. He is a professor in the Department of Visual Arts and the Graduate Program in Visual Arts at the School of Communications and Arts of USP. Among numerous group exhibitions, he has participated in four editions of the São Paulo Biennial and the Havana Biennial. He is represented by Zipper Galeria.
Our series of talks will take place on October 8th at 1:00 PM in the METRO building.
- Time: 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
