CAU PUC-RIO COLLABORATES WITH UCCRN, COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY

Professors Maria Fernanda Campos and Cecilia Lemos P. Herzog's CAU / PUC-Rio were named members of an international task force of climate scientists to help cities around the world to address the causes and consequences of climate change, according to Dr. Cynthia Rosenzweig of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies and Columbia University Earth Institute.

Rosenzweig is the founder of the Urban Climate Change Research Network - UCCRN (Research Network on Urban Climate Change), which includes about 500 researchers around the world. Maria Fernanda Campos and Cecilia Lemos P. Herzog UCCRN and are members of expert groups that will produce thematic reports, respectively, on Cities and Biodiversity in Coastal Urban. These thematic reports will integrate UCCRN Second Assessment Report on Climate Change and Cities - ARC3-2 (Second Assessment Report on Climate Change in Cities), to be launched in 2015 (the first report was published in 2011 and is available on the website of network) , which will cover one range of issues relating to cities in the context of climate change, such as health, food, water, energy, transportation, economy, governance, among others.

The teachers participated in September 's Workshop opening ARC3-2, at Columbia University in New York . This event gathered 110 experts in climate change , urban professionals and managers in Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa and the Americas.
