Marcelo Motta de Freitas is a Geographer, having graduated from PUC-Rio in 1993. He obtained his Master’s degree in Geography in 1998 and his Ph.D. in Geography in 2003, both from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Geology at UERJ in 2019. Currently, he is a researcher at PUC Rio in the field of Geomorphology and a professor in the Master’s and Ph.D. programs in Geography, as well as in the undergraduate programs in Geography and Architecture at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro – PUC-Rio.

He is involved in scientific dissemination projects, including being the creator, scriptwriter, and presenter of the television program “Sobre Rochas” on the Mais channel on GloboSat, as well as specials on GloboNews about rainfall and landslides, Canal Futura, Globo Universidade, and his participation as curator and presenter of the “Territórios” section at the LivMundi Sustainability Festival.

His portfolio includes the preparation of Environmental Feasibility Studies, Risk Analysis, Environmental Impact Studies, Basic Environmental Programs, Management Plans for Conservation Units, Ecological-Economic Zoning, Thematic Mapping, Environmental and Corporate Sustainability, and Environmental Communication and Branding
